Published: May 2017 by Viking Genre: Memoir Rating: 5/5 Stars I listened to most of this book on audio while road tripping to Nashville. I’ll be honest–I was a poor road trip companion. I was so completely absorbed in this story, I wasn’t much for conversation. This maybe isn’t the book I would’ve have expected… Continue reading THE PUSH BY TOMMY CALDWELL

I’m not sure how it happened… but tomorrow is the first day of 2019, which means it’s time for another year end wrap up. This year really flew by for me, but it was another great one when it comes to reading and my bookish life. I didn’t read as much as last year… I’m… Continue reading 2018 Year End Wrap Up: Another One for the Books

Discovered the magic of a peppermint mocha recently and I’m trying to channel that energy and spirit into finishing out this week. ✨ • In reading news, I am still swimming along through my book on the giant squid. I am alsooo reading a book essays (it started with one on narwhals so 🤷‍♀️), a memoir I just couldn’t resist picking up (has nothing to do with the ocean sorry) and listening to two audiobooks (one is an excellent one on whales). So you could say I’m a bit scattered. I never do well when I try to read multiple things at once, so it’s time to try and pull myself together and focus again! • Are you trying to finish anything up before the end of the year?
This Cyber Monday I’m joining with @librofm to celebrate local bookstores and the real people that run them! Real people are exactly why I am so so passionate about indie bookstores and why I love my local shop @paginationbookshop.airbnb so much. They make personalized recommendations, they curate shelves and offer hot apple cider, they gift wrap, they provide a space for all the literary events... they’re the real deal— and something you’re not going to get from shopping exclusively online. And if you’re an audiobook lover, you buy and listen AND support your favorite local shops (including Pagination now!!!). • If you start a membership today on this Cyber/Real People Monday you’ll get 4 audiobooks for the price of 1 (three audiobook credits plus an audio edition of CIRCE, a fave book of mine this year). Follow the link in my stories and use the code REALPEOPLE. And remember you can always use the code JO3FOR1 to get 3 audiobook credits for the price of 1 when you start a new membership. • I’m a huge fan of this company and a huge fan of indie bookstores. Let’s support them! ❤️
Happy Sunday, friends. Hope you’re reading something good! If not, I’m currently offering recommendations for books about sea creatures. 🐙🐳🦑🐡
Thursday inspiration from an extra pretty lookin’ cappuccino. 😍 • I have moved on from jellies and am fully submerged in the world of the giant squid now and very much enjoying this deep dive into ocean-themed nonfiction. Works out well for #nonfictionnovember too! • Do you find yourself on themed reading journeys? My last big one was #literaryjoreadsaboutmermaids so I clearly like mine to be aquatic in nature.
Anyone else really feeling the Sunday Scaries tonight...? • I had a lovely weekend full of time with friends, as well as some much needed time to rest. But I could still use another day of reading time I think? I did finish SPINELESS this yesterday, the jellyfish book I’ve been enjoying. I learned so much about these fascinating ocean animals — and maybe shared a few too many facts with everyone who asked what I was reading. 🤷‍♀️ I’m continuing the ocean theme and starting in on a book about giant squid next... so get ready! 🦑
Happy happy happy this gem is sticking around. 🙏 Springfield friends, stop in for book deals and bookstore cats. (see my story for a very good kitty doing some good sale promotion.) Support local bookstores!!
